SUE DEWITT AND GAIL SAGEL MAKE-UP SUMMER CLEAN UP TIPS

I welcome the onset of spring. I love spring cleaning and getting my makeup and clothes organized for warmer weather. In this month’s ALLURE Magazine, April 2011 Issue, page 100, they gathered advice from Makeup Expert, Sue Devitt, founder of Sue Devitt Beauty; her clients include Uma Thurman and Jennifer Connelly.

Sue’s advice was to:

·         Store Makeup away from humidity and heat, which both degrade products.  *Wipe down lipstick cases and compacts with a wet wipe, and wash brushes weekly in warm soapy water.

·         Organize makeup by type and color and day and evening in clear plastic trays.

·         Color code lipsticks by marking a sample on a small white sticker and put it on the top of the tube.

·         Replace mascara and foundation every three months, and lipstick and gloss after a year.

I agree with Sue on all of her points, but I take even a step or two further.

·         Separate your spring makeup and colors from your winter products. Put your winter products away.

·         Place your lip glosses in a cup, color side up so you can easily choose the color to best coordinate with your outfit and your makeup look.

·         Stand your makeup brushes up in a toothbrush holder or a cup that allows each brush to not touch the others.

·         Wash your brushes, with a mild soap, once every other week. Reshape the brushes and lie them down to dry.

·         Clean the gunk around the rims of your lip glosses and lipsticks. Take a tissue and wipe off.

The 2011 Genius Awards - Elle Magazine

I love the “Genius Awards”. The April issue of Elle Magazine www.elle.com, page 258, featured what they thought were the three hottest products.

The Perfect Red Lip: Tip from NylonMag and Gail Sagel

In NYLON Magazine www.nylonmag.com, March 2011 issue, featured “ICON: Wonder Woman – The Perfect Red Lip”. They recommended two products for creating the Wonder Woman Perfect red lip using M.A.C. Lipstick – Russian Red and the new Napoleon Perdis Lip Pencil – Rococo Red. Got to Have Beach Hair: Tip from US Weekly and Gail Sagel

US girls always want to know how to get that sexy, beach hair even when we’re not at the beach. US Weekly covered, “For Best Beachy Texture” in issue 837, www.usmagazine.com.  US Weekly suggested two hair products to get that beachy-look. Bumble and Bumble Hair Texture (Un) Dressing $26 and Redken Nature’s Rescue – Radiant Sea Spray $17, which we carry.

Here’s how you can use the Redken Nature’s Rescue – Radiant Sea Spray. Spritz it throughout your wet hair to add body, blow dry your hair on a medium setting, scrunching and tousling your hair as you go. Then use a brush to smooth just your roots, leaving the freshly tousled hair texturized. This is one of my favorites for creating tousled, sexy hair.
