Hiding in the Shadow

While I think it’s clear I’m a big supporter of working your best feature and never shying away from a little risk in your look, sometimes hiding in the shadows can be just as fun. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve written many a’ blogs about the beauty that is winged out liner however, this concept allows for a hint of smoke rather than the usual defined line. January Jones puts her own spin on it by swiping the shade of lavender underneath her eye as well.

The shades of purples and pinks in the collection are so complimentary to each other and perfect for achieving Jones’ look. Try to avoid the flashback to elementary school, it is in fact okay to combine purple and pink past the age of eight. I started with the lavender shade and topped it with the baby pink for the perfect color. Remember to leave the rest of the eye naked so it doesn’t end up looking like a smokey eye of pastels.

A Rose Gold Glow

This season had brought in an abundance of rose gold watches, jewelry, and other accessories. But now it’s time to branch out and try the trend through our makeup. Some women like to be dripping in diamonds but radiating in a rose gold glow sounds like just as much fun. The May 2012 issue of Glamour Magazine (page 283) features an article on the power of spring fragrances. Unfortunately for the writer of this topic, I wasn’t at all focused on the perfume end but rather on the shimmery, mystical feel of the makeup.

As soon as I saw the beachy, almost wet look of the makeup, I instantly knew the perfect products to use would be Vincent Longo’s Liquid Eye Shadow. Oh Girl, You Bangin’!

Now although it can be a little offensive, whenever we hear the phrase “You’re banging” from the opposite sex, we most likely smile a bit to ourselves. However, we’re not referring to the pickup line today girls, instead we’re focusing on the hairdo. One of the biggest celebrity trends is the easy, breezy bang. I especially love the look done with somewhat kinky, undone waves throughout the rest of the hair. Another tip is to use a flat paddle brush when blowing our your bangs so it’s to avoid the 80’s cylinder look.

I always felt like bangs have a kind of retro-look to them. Now let’s be clear, this isn’t to advise you to pour as much blue eye shadow on yourself as possible and hit your lips with some neon fuchsia color (although the two looks separately could be fierce!) Turning Up the Heat With Emerald Green

One of Spring’s hottest treads are teardrop, emerald earrings. Featured in this month’s In Style Magazine (page 164) are a slew of celebrities all working the look. Now, they say there is a distinction between women who are “ugly” criers and those who are “pretty” criers. The best thing about this trend is the teardrop look works on everyone beautifully! However, with such a statement piece of jewelry, it’s crucial to balance your makeup evenly.

I think Taylor Swift accomplished the look flawlessly with her light smokey eye and peach-skinned glow. My favorite season is quickly approaching and with it comes my favorite makeup look. Nothing goes better with beachy waves, and a sun-kissed glow than dewy, natural makeup. For those who hate the beach because the wind messes up their hair, or avoid the ocean because you don’t want your lashes to fall off, please ignore this blog because it’s clearly not for you. Now, for all the real women out there, here a few quick and easy steps toward that beautiful beachy glow using just a few products.

Business on the Top, Party on the Bottom

Don’t panic, this blog is in no way a how-to on how to achieve the perfect mullet. Thankfully, our eyes will be saved from ever seeing that again unless of course you accidentally stumble into a biker’s bar of some sort. Instead, I’m replicating a look from Maybelline’s mascara ad in the March 2012 Issue of People: Style Watch (page149). The look features a subtle, soft use of bronzes and golds on the lid, while a pop of lime green runs underneath the eye. This is such an interesting twist and a perfect solution for those who may not be ready for a full, pop-of-color eye.

I don’t use the shade of green for this look but it’s a great color to have in my makeup bag. Using a narrow brush and dampening the tip for the best color payoff, dip the brush in the shadow and tap out any fallout. Swipe the pigment from the inner corner of your eye to the outer in a thin line staying close to your waterline. This look especially looks fierce with winged out eye liner but still, keep the pop of color under your eye within the span of your eye. Finish off with mascara and your ready to turn some heads!
