Spread Your Wings: Winged Out Eyeliner

There’s so many trend of the past reappearing in today’s world. Bellbottom jeans, off the shoulder tops,  floppy hats, and, one of the ones I’m most excited about, winged out eyeliner. Now we’ve all tried what I like to call, “the baby wing.” It’s nothing major, just dips out slightly past the corner of our eye. But I’m talking about going extreme here, channeling Elizabeth Taylor. The March 2012 Issue of Elle (page 330) has a feature on this dramatic look. These wings reached out as far at the end of the eyebrow and I think the look is undeniably retro-chic.
My number one advice for this look is to use liquid eyeliner only. There’s no shot you’ll be able to get the same effect from a pencil liner. Elle recommends using Maybelline New York Eye Studio Master Precide Liquid Ink Pen Eye Liner in Black. Usually the goal with liner is to keep it as close to the lid as possible but for this look, don’t be afraid of a thicker line. Also, be sure to keep your wings as even as you can. Don’t be afraid if you slip though, baby wipes are great for correcting makeup mishaps.
I love the idea of chunky lashes with such a vintage look and FACES Beautiful SuperWear Masacar http://www.facesbeautiful.com/product-p/851036001012.htm is my favorite to use. My trick is to look down and coat my lashes from behind as well as the front. This will evenly bathe them in the mascara and give the illusion of false eye lashes, which by the way, I would shy away from either for this look. A side part and a sleek ponytail that rests low on the neck is a perfect hairstyle for these powerful eyes. You won’t be shying away from eye contact with these tips!
