Go Ahead and Mix Black & Brown!

I've always thought to mix black and brown, both in makeup and in fashion. Eighty percent of my wardrobe is comprised of black and brown, for all seasons. It never occurred to me that not everyone thought this was okay to do, until I read the August In Style Magazine. First I'm reading the Mail section on page 40, where a reader is thanking In Style for introducing to her the concept of mixing brown eye shadow with black. Then on page 230, stylist Sarah Cobb suggests that it's beautiful to wear brown and black clothes together. Have no wardrobe second guessing, or hysteria over this concept.
Individually both black and brown are fabulous, but together they make an even more exciting combination. When mixing them in clothing and in makeup too, try to mix up the textures and finishes. In clothing, find a tweed, put a leather vest on with a sweater skirt, add a cardigan to high leather boots, mix a tweed blazer with a silk blouse. The same with makeup. Don't go all matte and don't go all shimmer. One of my tricks in makeup is to line my eyes with a dark black liner and then smudge it sexy with a chocolate brown eye shadow. Or make a warm cocoa lid of a matte shadow and then come back over it with a slight shimmer eye crayon, like Sue Devitt's Eye Intensifier in color Tanzania.  Add in a shiny black liquid eye liner to really give a bit of pop.  And, in your clothing, if you're going to mix black and brown, please mix up the textures. But for sure, when you are doing the monochromatic look - all one color, DEFINITELY mix up the textures. Let the seasons accessories of leathers, suedes, metals and woods make your outfit have your unique personality.

HAIR TIP!!! - Protect and Serve

I just love the shot of Marilyn Monroe, page 102, June 2011, Beauty Launchpad, applying hair products while she's on the beach. Clearly for decades, stylish women have known that, even and especially in the sun, we need special protection for our hair. So while sunning on the beach in Positano, I was pleasantly pleased to see so many Italiano women and many tourists applying products to their hair, as well as skin, while enjoying the sun's rays. For me, my hair product of choice was the Redken Color Extend Sun After-Sun Mask.  The Redken Mask gives UV protection from the sun, while giving me lots of mango oil moisture. I love the mango  And the extra moisture keeps my hair from turning into a complete beach mess. But, rather with this product in my hair, it makes it into more of a beach tossled, wavy, sexy look. So...once again ladies..... You know me. I just love those products that us look good and are good for us at the same time. This one's in the winner circle!!

Eyes Wide Awake

Is there a trick to making your eyes appear well rested and wide awake?

Absolutely!! Just reading Beauty Launchpad, June 2011, page 90. Karie Frost says, " skip the coffee and energy drinks." Instead reach for eyeliners in white, flesh tone and pale metallic colors. I certainly agree. Line your eyes in the inside and highlight just under your brows and you'll look awake!!  Stop in and check out all of the Pencil Me In Cosmetics in the buff to white shades.

I Love Strong Eye Brows

So what do Diane Kendal of Alexander Wang, Westman of Oscar de la Renta and me all have in common? We all love strong eye brows! Just saw a clip of their work, page 146 in August In Style magazine, showing two models with nice, full natural brows and then both eye brows artists added even more color to the brows with eye shadow or eye pencil. Those who know me, know I love a full brow. And, even better then just a natural full brow is a brow that we enhance with extra color.

The technique: Personally I usually choose a brow powder or a mineral eye shadow to fill in and enhance a brow. I like to dip my brow brush in a small drop of water, just to moisten. Then dip the moistened brush into a mineral powder a shade similar to your brow color. For my brows, I go a shade darker then my natural brow color. For most women, I look toward their hair color to determine the shade. It's more about the hair on your head, then the original color of your brows. In any case, fill behind the hair on your brows. It will make them appear thicker. I also use a few subtle tricks. Like if I want the arch to appear higher, I'll only fill to the high side of the brow, at the top, and just not fill the whole brow to the lid. After you've put on a few strokes of your moist mineral powder, then using a brow spooky, brush through your brows so the hairs pop back up to the top. No one will ever guess that all that hair isn't really yours!

Cherry Red vs. Orange Red

Can you tell the difference between cherry red and orange red?

The other day, my daughter bought a stunning cherry red summer weight sweater and like all teenagers had to wear it out that night. I have to proudly admit that Sarah is a very accomplished makeup artist and has a keen eye for colors. But even she was stumped as to what blush to wear with this bold, cherry red sweater. I knew the answer, but I also knew that In Style had recently covered this topic about cherry red dresses and blushes. So rather than try to correct my teenage daughter or worse yet, try to tell her the right thing. I just opened the magazine to page 124 August issue and passed it to her. Lol. Why is it that mothers can't tell their own daughters what to you, and yet so many mothers pay me to tell their daughters how to wear makeup appropriately?

In any case, here is the rule. When wearing cherry red in clothing close to your face - a dress, a blouse, a sweater - choose a blush that is an orange/red. That's right. Purposely don't match. You'll look like a clown if you try to match it. You need a blush that is warmer in tone to compliment the look. Adding a bit of orangish blush will warm you and offset the cherry glow from your outfit perfectly.

And, by the way the rule for choosing a lipstick with a cherry red dress is not as straight forward. More on that in another blog......

Match Your Eyeliner to Your Outfit blog

To Match or Not to Match?

I don't usually go for matchy matchy. I typically choose complimenting colors. But a few changes are in the air. I think for the first time in my adult life I bought a matching shoe and handbag set - not coordinating, but actually the same designer in suede and gold, designed to be bought and worn together.

During prom season, the girls came in with so many fabulous dresses and many with wonderful colors. Some girls wore white or black dresses and had a necklace of color, like a fabulous turquoise necklace or stone of color. My makeup artists at Faces Beautiful and I all decided for those girls to do a matchy matchy eyeliner to match to colored stones or necklace or the one popping color in their dress. So, overall we did a nude, soft pretty palette and then encircled the eye with a eyeliner. We mostly used the Duo Eyeliners from Vincent Longo or the Pencil Me Cosmetics eyeliners. All fab! So, why don't you try a bright eyeliner all the way around your entire eye to match your jewelry or a color from your outfit? Have fun.

US Weekly: Kate Wore It Best

In July 4th Us Weekly, in the Who Wore It Best section, Kate Middleton was compared in her outfits to Madonna, Kerry Washington, Lydia Bright, Rose McGowan, and Pippa Middleton in the same dresses. Kate won about 50 percent of the time. But, that was just a poll on her outfits. No one bothered to poll her makeup. So, here goes.... Don't get me wrong, I'm a Kate fan....  But, her makeup....? Yuk!  Way too much black liner and black eyes. And, has she heard about lipstick? Or heard about lipstick in colors other than naked, nude, natural or pouty pink? I think not. Kate please, with all of your resources, let me give you a fresh, youthful, yet sophisticated new look. Time to let the 80's go.

Glam Sunscreens - Be in Sun-Know Now

US Weekly, July 4th issue, page 66 covers the Glam sunscreens. I really like their choices. They choose two bronze tinted products which have an SPF of 30 and 55. The 30 is Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess and Kate Somerville Serum Tinted Sunscreen. I'm especially partial to products that have color and have sun protection. I'm always multi-tasking.  I figure why not do two good things at once, if you can? I'd always want to use a product that makes me look good and is good for me.

These two accomplish that. US beauty also includes one of my favorites Peter Thomas Roth Clini-Matte All Day Oil Control SPF 20.  This product does just what the labels says.... Controls oil, gives sun protection. And, you must try Hawaiian Tropic Shimmer Effect SPF 40. An all over body protection with a shimmer designed to make you look thinner. Alas, they get it! We want products that make us look good! So, now I don't need a body bronzer mixed in with my sunscreen, or worse yet, just the body bronzer and skip the sunscreen. Thanks for making this easier!!

The last product they included was Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Targeted Sun Defense Stick SPF 50. This is a product for girls with very dry skin. I didn't enjoy this, as much as someone who has much drier skin then mine.  Where are you girls in those drier climates, when I need you? Ms. Arizona?

Also, Don't Forget to Enter our contest. Ends July 29th. Prizes for everyone. Hope to hear from you. Click Here For Details

BECCA - Molly Ringwald / Calypso Home Event

I wanted to share some photos from a lifestye/fashion/book signing event that BECCA partnered with Calypso Home (Brentwood, California) on at the end of May.

The event featured Molly Ringwald and the paperback release of her book "Getting The Pretty Back".  Molly was in the store doing a reading, signing books, and greeting guests to chat about her interests spanning from fashion, lifestyle/furniture, and her love of makeup, particularly the perfect lipstick.

Because Molly Ringwald speaks volumes in her book about finding the perfect red lipstick and is known for her roles in iconic films like "Pretty in Pink", celebrity makeup artist Lisa Dempsey was on hand to demonstrate applying the perfect red and pink lip.  BECCA supplied several shades of Sheer Tint Lip Colours and Glossy Lip Tint for the beauty and fashion conscious attendees to experience.

Molly’s favorite lipstick shade was Alina and she can be seen wearing it in the photo below. Also take a look at the Becca brand at FacesBeautiful.

Secret to the Kim Kardashian Look!! - Hair Extensions

You’ve come a long way baby!! And, so have hair extensions. Hair extensions can give women the look they want every day. So, if it’s long sexy locks you are looking for, you should be looking into real hair extensions. Just look at Kim Kardashian. Yes, she’s gorgeous. And, yes she has gorgeous long hair. And, yes she adds in hair extensions, too.

At first, hair extensions were made of synthetic locks and didn’t wash, wear and style all that well. And, while you could buy the color you wanted, you couldn’t color them or recolor them as you choose. That’s all changed now. New techniques, new types of extensions, and better quality hair means that extensions look better than ever.

There are many different techniques for hair extensions. There is the basic, non-permanent, clip-in. They are good for when you just want to clip-in a bit of temporary glamour. There is sewing in, or braiding into your hair. This is a good method, but can be uncomfortable, as they are installed very close to your head, and that can be uncomfortable. Then there is a fusion bonding process that takes small amounts of your own hair and bonds it or fuses it to the new extension. It does create a beautiful, smooth look and each extension can be replaced when it needs to as the hair grows out. To remove them, when you’re ready, or the regrowth warrants it, your stylist will use a tool or solution to dissolve the bond and remove the extension. Then there is the sandwich bonding method, which I love. This is the method we use most of the times at Faces Beautiful. It utilizes two pieces of extension hair about 1 inch in width with your hair in between these two pieces, like an ice cream sandwich. The extension hair bonds to your hair and to each other. It’s a gorgeous smooth effect. What I like best is that it’s so comfortable to wear and to sleep in. The extension sandwiches lie flat to your head, so there are not little bumpy pieces prodding into your head and giving you a headache. For those of you who know me, I wore this type of extension for many years.

So today, Sara, one of our top hair stylists, installed a full head of extensions on Nicole. Nicole had a short bob cut and wanted long sexy locks, just like Kim Kardashian. About Two hours later Nicole, emerged with gorgeous long wavy hair. BTW, Sara sports long, wavy blonde extensions. So, if you’ve been wondering if extensions are for you, then schedule an appointment for a consultation 203-226-1818. Extensions can totally enhance how you look and feel.

Why Mineral Makeup?

Women have had a love for makeup since the beginning of time. Our fascination with makeup begins as early as our toddler years, and as we grow up we eagerly learn new techniques and anticipate the introduction of new and better products. Makeup enhances us. It can transform our beauty, at just the touch of a brush. So, is there such a thing as the perfect makeup product? Probably not. Every woman has her own preference and perspective as to what is best. In the last decade, one makeup category that has gotten a ton of attention is mineral makeup. Many women know exactly what mineral makeup is. But, it is still so new that even those of us who have heard of it, we still don't know exactly what it is.

lets get started
In understanding what makes mineral makeup different or better, it's best to look at what traditional makeup is all about. So, yes traditional makeup continues to do externally what is was designed to do. That is to make us more beautiful. It does. Whether it's foundations, eye shadow, blushes, lipsticks and so forth, traditional makeup makes look better. But, it doesn't make all of us feel better.

Why is that? Well, traditional makeup is made from a mixture of ingredients derived from petrochemicals. That means makeup indirectly comes from petroleum, you know oil. That doesn't make if bad, but it can cause skin problems and irritations for many women. We all know that the ozone layer has thinned out over time, which leads to so many more skin sensitivities. And, there is a proliferation of the occurrences of skin cancer. More than ever. And, this is an area that mineral makeup truly excels.

The two main ingredients in mineral makeup are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Sound familiar? Sure. Those are the typical ingredients that you see in sun protection products. So, yes mineral makeup gives you automatic, natural protection from the harmful sun rays, which with the thinning of the ozone layers have only gotten more harmful over the years. Mineral makeup is a purer concentrate for makeup. That means it's better for your skin and less likely to cause skin irritations and rashes. Traditional makeup traditionally is chock full of fillers, synthetic materials, preservatives and various fragrances. Traditional makeup is also typically heavier on your skin and therefore a bit uncomfortable too. Mineral makeup is made from finely crushed titanium dioxide and firmly crushed zinc oxide. This mixture is light, airy and filled with natural protection for your skin.

You know what the best feature is for mineral makeup? No, it's not that it's good for you. It's that it makes you look better. Really mineral makeup makes your skin look prettier. It's all those finely ground titanium dioxide and ground zinc oxide. They fill up the tiny little nooks and crannies in your skin and give you a better finish than either traditional makeup, and as light as no makeup. So, if I had to choose one product that was the end all, be all, best product.... It would be something in the mineral makeup category. Something that was good for my skin, but more importantly, made me look better. That's a winner!!

Correct Oil Product for Your Hair!

In this month’s “Beauty Launchpad” Magazine on page 92, there is an article called “Refining Oil” and no it’s not about Exxon or Mobil Oil companies!!! It’s about what are the right products to use to condition your hair. A good hair oil should be able to penetrate your hair shaft and glossen its finish. It should be able to soften coarse hair and boost the luster, while at the same time still allowing for a light-weight finish and make styling easier. A good hair oil should be able to seriously boost the shine. Finally a good hair oil should also protect and prolong the color. It sounds like an awful lot to expect of any one product. True, it is. So, what are the choices?

In this article, Tracy Morin covers nine various oils. One of the nine is the Moroccan Oil. Okay, we can stop right there. Once you try Moroccan Oil, you won’t need or want to try any other. http://www.facesbeautiful.com/    Available for summer on the go use in a smaller size of .85oz or 25ml for $15.

What’s hot for hair?

“Beauty Launchpad” June 2011 in their What’s Taking Off in the World of Beauty discuss First Look for Hair, page 52. So here’s what’s hot for them:

·         Hand Dry – Absorbs excess hair moisture without creating tangles
·         Rejuvenol Glistening Design Polish – Makes strands of hair sparkle
·         Arrojo Styling Whip – Creates a long lasting volume
·         Keratin Complex Style Flex Flow – Hairspray which reactivates the keratin
·         Belletresse It’s Not Fate Sulfate Free Shampoo and Conditioner – The name says is all
·         Obliphica Professional Intensive Nourishing Hair Mask – Filled with sea-buckthorn fruit extract to boost sheen
·         Redken Shine Flash 02 – Filled with camelina oil and nourishing vitamin B5 to gives lots of shine.

I like all their picks, especially for summer, because it’s always about keeping your hair moisturized, shiny and not frizzy. You know, of course, we carry both Redken and Keratin Complex, so I’m a big believer and supporter there. I haven’t actually tried the Belletresse Sulfate Free products, because we are a Deva Curl Salon, so we use all of their sulfate free products. And, I just love the Hand Dry Hair Towel, especially for you curly hair girls. It doesn’t disrupt the integrity of your curl.

Make Up Tip - Bold Brows on a Brazilian Beauty

Meet Monica. She is absolutely gorgeous with striking angelic features, accented with her strong brows. She reminded me a bit of Audrey Hepburn in her petit, classic manner and timeless beauty.

Monica came in for her hair and makeup for a black tie NYC charity event. Our master stylist, Ted Kopec turned her hair into a very festive updo. It was quite stunning. Then Monica sat in my makeup chair. Well, those of you who have sat in my chair, know the very first thing my eye is drawn to is your eyebrows. And, what brows Monica has!!! Those of you who know me, also know that I absolutely adore a strong brow. So, no reshaping for Monica’s brows, just a bit a grooming for those long, curly, unruly brow hairs. Once her brows were tamed I began by applying a really sensational set of lashes, style #46, they flare at the ends and curl too!!

Monica was wearing a full-length deep navy blue gown, so I choose to do a navy and black eye. I filled her entire lid with Vincent Longo’s Eye Shimmer Soufflé in Babelon, which is a rich, shimmery blue. http://www.facesbeautiful.com/product_p/vl-eyeshimmersouffle.htm  Then on to a gold contour and highlighter in Faces Beautiful Leona. http://www.facesbeautiful.com/product_p/851036001321.htm  Of course, lots of black eyeliner. First a soft pencil to smudge in. Then a black powder to set the waxy pencil, then finally lots of black liquid liner for real dramatics. Look at Monica’s cheeks. They glow and their sexy. I used Becca’s Lip and Cheek Cream. http://www.facesbeautiful.com/product_p/becca-creme-blush.htm  I do just adore that product. Don’t think I could give the glow without Becca’s Lip and Cheek Cream.

Have fun Monica!! You are gorgeous!!!

Redheads are Simple Amazing… Meet beautiful Hadley.

There is nothing standard about enhancing the beauty of red-headed women. Redheads require a very personalized look. Some redheads are more ruddy, some very pale, some very golden – a unique group of women.

Meet Hadley. She came in yesterday to have her hair and makeup done, as she was on her way to a NYC black tie charity evening. I didn’t include  a before shot of Hadley, because her lashes are blonde, her brows very fair and I just won’t include that look. To get this awesome look, first Hadley had her hair expertly coiffed by Ted Kopec, our new master stylist. Fabulous!! Then I began… I applied our Faces Beautiful Brush-On Liquid Mineral Makeup in Lindsay Light. Then lots of eyeliner, the Sue Devitt Eye Intensifier in Kenya both on and inside her upper and lower lids to remove all redness and all paleness. Then I applied a very sexy set of long, black eye lashes. Wow!! I choose a bronze and black palette of eye shadows, cheeks and a nude lip. I especially love that lip!!

So, the next time you’re going someplace that you want everyone, including yourself to say, Wow! – then schedule a visit with us in our studio. Be beautiful ladies!!!!

Brace Yourself for Leather and Wood

What to wear this summer on your arms? There’s just so much to choose from. There are so many cute little leather bracelets in all of these fun metallic finishes and natural leathers. And, there are so many interesting wood bangles and stretchy bracelets that I also adore.

So, what’s a girl to do? Well, according to The Allure Beauty Experts they say wear all of them together. They look best when they’re mismatched. Jumbled and piled three of four high. Leather bracelets are mixed in next to wood ones. Rugged finishes placed next to polished metallic. Wide ones next to skinny ones. The only “don’t”  I can give you is don’t put too many rugged or natural ones together. You need the polished finish or metallic finish to keep it fresh and current.

Have fun!

It’s time for Summer Sleek Hair

June Allure, page 162 “Get the Looks” Teaches how to do the “Sleek Twist”. Let me share with you:

1.    Spray a leave in conditioner spray, such as Aussie Hair Insurance Leave-in Conditioner onto dry hair.
2.    Brush hair back and secure into ponytail.
3.    Twirl the ponytail into a twist and bobby pin in.
4.    Run a drop of Moroccan Oil and smooth over hair for shine.

I add one more step to the “Sleek Twist”. At the end spray Goldwell Sleek Perfection all over. This will help to give shine and hold to your sleek “do”.

Allure Magazine - Day to Night Summer Makeup Looks

In the special issue of Allure Magazine, June 2011 issue, page 149. There is an article called “Day to Night”.  It’s so on target. In the first part, their beauty experts recommend a berry stained lip with a copper shimmer eye shadow. They recommend Avon Lipstick in Maraschino, the Pearl Highlighter from Benefit on your eyes or the Chanel Ombre Essentielle Eye Shadow in Trace, which I personally love! For a berry stain lip, I also like the Vincent Longo Velvet Riche Lipstick Rain Dance. http://www.facesbeautiful.com/product_p/vl-velvetrichelipstick.htm
I like this lip because it’s matte. Then blot your lip and swipe on a lip balm for a sheen that’s moist, but not glossy. I used the Peter Thomas Roth Pink Bombshell Lip Balm. Awesome. http://www.facesbeautiful.com/product_p/670367162019.00.htm

In the summer, I love a sheer lid with a teal colored eye liner. So do the Allure experts. They recommend Cover Girl LiquilineBlast Eyeliner Pencil in Blue Bloom or the Dolce & Gabbana The Eyeliner in 7. The D&G is a great shade. Let me share a secret with you. Vincent Longo makes a Duo Eye Pencil Liner in Blue Cobalt on one side and Aqua on the other. Use the Vincent Longo Pavlova Eye Shimmer Soufflé as your all over color. http://www.facesbeautiful.com/product_p/vl-eyeshimmersouffle.htm  It’s waterproof too, so you’ll look hot at the beach.

The hottest look for the summer is the shimmery neutral eye shadows. Shiseido makes their luminizing Satin Eye Color in GD 810. Just fabulous. For a shimmery gold, try our Faces Beautiful Leona Eye shadow. http://www.facesbeautiful.com/product_p/851036001321.htm

And, the hottest color of the season is coral. Coral everywhere – not just your lips. Use it on your kips, your cheeks and your eyes. Add a little shimmer to it too!! Try the Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color in Soft Coral or the L’Oreal HIP High Density Pigments in Visionary. For just a touch of coral gloss, try Vincent Longo Carina Perfect Shine Lip Gloss. http://www.facesbeautiful.com/product_p/vl-perfectshinelip.htm

Have fun with all of these shimmery, sunny looks. If you have questions about how to apply, just go to our Facebook page and ask me. Have fun ladies!!!

Prom Night: Hair and Make Up

This Friday, Weston High School, had an extravagant Prom Night, but before it all, many of the women got prepared at my Salon. Dozens of beautiful young women came to my Studio to get their hair and make up fixed up for their night. Below is some photos from it.

Are you looking for an eye shadow that does it all?

Here it is!! Brand new from Vincent Longo is his Pearl X Eyeshadow. Filled with an assortment of ombre coordinated colors. It’s beautiful, and very easy to use.

You can use a brush and blend the colors, which are pre-mixed for a gorgeous effect. Or, you can finger-stamp them onto your eyes. One of our clients Callie, tried this out in the color Etherea and we stamped it on her eyes. Pretty awesome!! She was already pretty, but we did make her just a bit prettier.

Princess Catherine: What Are Your Thoughts?

What do you think of Princess Catherine’s bridal look? Do you love the natural look or do you think she should have glammed it up just a bit?

So as I flip through the pages of May 16, 2011 People and Time Magazines, I cannot deny that the Princess looked overall stunning in her Alexander McQueen gown, her Cartier tiara and her Robinson Pelham earrings. But, I have to be honest her hair, makeup and eyebrows just aren’t as great as I thought they could have been. So, hear me out on this one. All of us real girls work so hard on our wedding day to look and feel like a princess. And, here she is a princess and she applied her own makeup after a few lessons. Really? Was that necessary? I would have created a more sultry look – not so much black lines around her eyes, I would have used more lashes to widen and accentuate her eyes without closing them in. I also wouldn’t have used so much pink blush right on the apples of her cheeks. Look at her pictures, all you see are pink cheeks. I would have placed the pink higher on her cheekbones, mixed in with a glow highlighter – the pink should be glowing off her skin, not just sitting there. And for Princess hair… Well, I know Kate Middleton is all about being simple, but on Friday, April 29, 2011 Kate Middleton became Princess Catherine and I think a better and more sophisticated hair style was in order for the day. Something with a bit more height to really show off that fabulous, borrowed from the Queen, Cartier tiara. And, last are her eyebrows… Well all you brows girls who come to me know this one. I love an arch, not a wing. Kate wear wings – a brow that has no bend and just moves in one direction, is what I call a wing. I feel like an arch for Princess Catherine would elongate the look from her cheeks to her brow bone and really place a beautiful emphasis on her eyes. But, hey, no royal calls came in asking for my expertise. And, she’s still gorgeous. So who cares what I think? LOL

Bringing beauty to Your Outdoors…

One of my favorite clients, Donna Craft is featured in the May/June issue of “At Home” in Fairfield County, page 42. Aside from being truly beautiful herself, Donna Craft has the keen ability to create an esthetic beauty. Her newly designed pool house sits nestled in her lush gardens and lawns in Maple Hill Farms. Stepping outside of the traditional interior design of New England homes, Donna chose a more 1960’s – 1970’s light, airy almost contemporary style. My favorite is her choice of zebra print wallpaper for the bathroom. But, don’t think for a second that Donna is out lounging by her gorgeous pool. No way. Donna’s not the sit around and lounge kind of woman. Far more likely you’ll find Donna spending time at her much valued Center for Women and Families or working with Pfriem Breast Care Center. Thank you Donna, for all the beauty you bring to so many.

Here’s a very soft, sensual bridal look….

Laurie’s getting married in June and today we did her trial run through for hair and makeup. Laurie doesn’t really wear a lot of makeup and wants a light, soft, yet sexy look.  So, here’s what I did. It’s a very champagne, sheer sensual makeup look. Look at the picture of her eyes closed. I layered on lots of no color colors. If you want the exact techniques or colors used – just ask… My pleasure, as always!!!

I’m an American Idol Fan, but I adore Jennifer Lopez…!

In Style April 2011 Magazine and this week’s People Magazine both vote Jennifer Lopez as the most beautiful woman in the world!!! I totally agree, but what took them so long to acknowledge this? I remember absolutely falling in love with J Lo in her movie “The Wedding Planner”. And the look that Ralph Fiennes gave her in “Maid in Manhattan” was exactly how I felt the first time and every time I see Jennifer Lopez – sheer adoration.

Jennifer Lopez is beautiful in every aspect of being a woman. She is a fabulously talented singer and dancer, an acclaimed box office Hollywood star (probably one of the highest paid female actresses and certainly the highest paid Hispanic actress), the owner of a television and movie production company, an entrepreneur of clothing lines, jewelry, accessories, perfumes and so much more….! And in her spare time she is an active philanthropist for children’s causes and animal rights. And, she is the proud mama of boy-girl twins. Which coincidently, so am I. So, maybe that’s the only trait I share with J Lo? But, I try to emulate her. How can I not? She is so awesome in all that she does. I do love watching American Idol more then ever now, just to see what makeup and hair looks she and her stylists come up with every week.

Jennifer Lopez is a true inspiration to beauty – all beauty inside and out.
